Once we are sure that a patient is suitable for the operation by completing his/her physical examination and blood tests at our clinic, we are having our first step of the procedure. Firstly, hair is shaven to grade 1 and local anesthesia is given to the patient. After that, the incisions are created by using ‘’sapphire blade’’ on the area of scalp where loss of hair occurs or where there is no hair.

 

The reason of using sapphire blade rather than regular blade is that sapphire blades have a V-shaped pin as opposed to regular U-shaped pin of steel blades (as it is shown in the image). That leads more accurate incisions resulting smaller channels where the risk of irritating neighbor hair follicles and scarring is significantly lowered.

As a second step, hair follicles are extracted from donor area (nape of the neck) by using a specific tool called ‘’micro motor’’ with a diameter of 1mm or less. After extraction of hair/follicles, they are preserved at a certain temperature

As a third step, all extracted grafts that are preserved at a certain temperature are started manually implanting one by one into the opened channels on the scalp. The procedure lasts between 8 to 10 hours in a perfectly designed operating room with TV, radio and tablets in order to keep patients from getting bored during the operation.
